Luminous Stone
(HR. An-Nasa’i, Ibnu Ishak, Ibnu Jarir, Al-Baihaqi, and Ath-Thabrani)
An-Nasa’i said that when the Prophet ordered his companions to dig a ditch, they found a large rock that prevented them from continuing digging the ditch.
The Messenger of Allah stood up and took a pickaxe, then he put his turban on the side of the ditch and hit the rock while reading the words of Allah, “The words of your Lord (the Qur’an) have been perfected as true and just sentences. No one can change His sentences and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (QS. Al-An’am (6): 115)
A third of the stone shifted and shattered, Salman stood up and saw what he was doing. Simultaneously with the blow of the Messenger of Allah, a gleam of light shone.
After hitting the stone three times, Rasulullah came out of the ditch and took his turban, then he sat down.
Salman said, “O Messenger of Allah, I saw a flash of light every time You hit that stone.” ***
