Adam (AS): The First Human and the Garden of Jannah

A Beautiful Beginning

1. Allah Created Adam
Allah created Adam (AS) from clay. Adam was the first human being, and Allah gave him a special place among His creation. Allah then gave Adam life and honored him with knowledge.
2. Allah Taught Adam
Allah taught Adam the names of things. This was a special gift of knowledge. When the angels saw what Allah had taught Adam, they acknowledged that Allah knows everything and that they only know what Allah has taught them.
3. The Angels Were Commanded
Allah commanded the angels to bow before Adam as an act of obedience to Allah. They obeyed. Iblis (Satan), however, refused because of his pride and disobedience. His refusal was a serious warning about the danger of arrogance.
4. Adam Lived in Jannah
Allah placed Adam and his wife in Jannah and allowed them to enjoy its blessings. They were told to eat freely from it, but Allah gave them one command: they were not to approach a particular tree. The Qur’an does not name the type of tree.
5. Adam Turned Back to Allah
Adam and his wife made a mistake after being deceived by Satan. They recognized their error and turned to Allah in repentance. Allah accepted Adam’s repentance and guided him. This teaches us that when we make a mistake, we should not give up. We should sincerely return to Allah and try to do better.
6. A New Chapter on Earth
Allah told Adam and his descendants that they would live on Earth for a time. Adam’s story became the beginning of human life on Earth. Allah also gave guidance, so people could learn how to live in a way that pleases Him.
