Why was he named Idris?

Prophet Idris is the 6th descendant of Prophet Adam, son of Yaridh bin Mihlal bin Qinan bin Anusy bin Syits bin Adam.

Allah SWT sent him to preach the descendants of Qabil, one of the disobedient sons of Adam.

Allah revealed to him 30 sahifahs or tablets containing teachings to be conveyed to his people.

His real name is Khunuh.

The name Idris comes from the word darasa which means learning.

This name was given to him because since childhood he was very diligent in studying the holy books of the previous prophet who was also his ancestor, namely Prophet Adam and Syits.

He also has another nickname, namely Asad al Usud, which means the lion of all lions.

That’s because he was very strong, persistent and brave in fighting disbelief.
