Idris is a servant of Allah SWT who is very pious and diligent in worship.
He also worships with practices that are truly difficult for other humans to carry out.
He fasted all the time and prayed all night.
Angels will deliver food from heaven every time Idris breaks his fast.
Because of his persistence in worship and seeking knowledge, Allah SWT raised Idris’ status.
It was Idris’ high status that made Angel Izrail miss and want to meet Idris. He didn’t come to take Idris’ life.
Why did Idris ask for his life to be taken away?
Idris wants to be more diligent in worshiping Allah SWT.
He then asked the Angel Izrail to take his life.
He wanted to feel the pain of death.
However, after that, he asked to be revived.
With the permission of Allah SWT, the Angel Izrail took Idris’ life slowly.
Idris’ spirit was then lifted into the sky.
There, Idris asked to be taken to see heaven and hell by an angel.
Idris could feel the pain of torture in hell and the joy of heaven. ***
